1: Shifting Gears for 2025

In 2025 the chess pieces on the board are making significant moves. These planetary movements shift the dynamic of the game from the old paradigms into fresh territory. The outer planets are moving into new signs and we may not have experienced that before. And as each planet enters a new sign, the momentum towards change picks up speed. We need to pay attention in order to steer a course through the unfolding of events that takes an awareness that acknowledges the challenges but appreciates the opportunities as well. So at this winter solstice, December 21st, 2024 when it appears the sun stands still, it is time to preview 2025 with our calendars at the ready.

2025 marks the mid-way point through the 20s decade already – there are only 5 years till 2030. From January 29th it will also be the year of the water Snake in Chinese astrology bringing wisdom, intuition but also the shedding of skins, a useful symbol for the transformative effect of Pluto as it moves further in to Aquarius. Think we are in a car and the highway ahead has cleared so you are now able to shift gear and move into the faster lane- at least for the first few months. It might even feel with all this Air and Fire energy e.g. when Uranus enters Gemini and Saturn and Neptune enter Aries, we get a sense of acceleration and that could feel overwhelming. But we need to act cautiously too as in the twists and turns, for every win there may be a loss – as always with astrology it can be a mixed bag of energies. The energies rising in 2025 will benefit all those who have prepared by driving more steadily and adapting where needed. Otherwise, it could be experienced as disruption or blockage. But with more fire and air, it will also increase your mental activity, social interaction, new ideas and communications and we already have an overload of news -fake or otherwise -on social media.

A lot of fresh innovations can open up potentials and much faster than before. We ought to be inured to the pace of change by now as 2020 was a major shifting point with that Saturn/Pluto conjunction in January and Saturn/Jupiter on the winter solstice in December. Since that time we’ve been through the rack.  But 2025 looks set to be radical as well in that changes in the political and cultural life and that increase anxieties along with any realignments to which we may be forced to adapt. There’s also a feeling that the time that it usually takes from first thought to realisation has compressed and your manifestation power takes less time than ever before.

So, in 2025 it is ever more important to check the unconscious flow of thoughts and ask does this – whatever is floating through my mind at any time-align to my and others’ highest good? Thoughts may be at cross currents or on many layers that need unravelling. Or it may be borrowed from someone else, from the detritus of the collective mind or animus mundi. This can be slippery as famously the ‘monkey’ mind has tricks and has deceits up its sleeve (Hanuman acting as Mercury here) and the mind can be entwined in unprocessed unconscious urges, impulses and archetypes which have a light and dark side. Journalling and deep reflection is always useful to articulate in writing, unravel any complex emotions and then sift through the contents of the mind at a more manageable pace.

The second quarter of the year is great for implementation of plans as most planets go forward and the last quarter time to slow down. But it is still a bit of a stop-start energy- a bumpy ride for sure- as for example, when Jupiter goes forward on February 5th, it is ideal for travel or higher studies and having the wind in your sails. Things might just land in your lap if you are lucky. But it goes retrograde again on November 12th at 25° of Cancer. Around June 9th is powerful as that’s when Jupiter enters 0° of Cancer where it is exalted. But it is the same time that Saturn and Neptune are at their closest degree in Aries so we get a major preview of what their combined archetypes will do before they become exact in January 2026. April, May and June are the go-ahead months this year. Get things in motion during this time. But that’s when Jupiter will square that zero Aries point exaggerating whatever is there.

But even though there is a quickening, from July onwards first Neptune on the 5th, then Saturn on the 14th, then Mercury on the 19th go retrograde- this may slow down any plans you had. The second half of the year is phasing down with many planets going backwards more or less 5 each month- that’s Jupiter, Saturn, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.

September, October and November are the months for not rushing forward but holding back:

  • Mercury and Venus are retrograde togther in April
  • Pluto is retrograde from May to October
  • Saturn is retrograde from July to November
  • Neptune is retrograde from July to December.

We are not completely through with the mind-mush post-truth era as Neptune actually goes back over that fated ‘ending’ degree of 29° of Pisces on the 24th October and the whole of November and December 2025. This might be a return to energy of nebulous Neptune in Pisces- a bit of a scary flashback to the old-style mind-mush feeling, excess, sublimation, surrender and confusion. It could probably include even more mysterious illnesses and deaths, feelings of loss and disillusionment, psychic phenomena, such as the increase of clairvoyance and clairsentience, or more attempts at force-fed propaganda from those who would control the people.

Neptune does not actually return to Aries until January 27th 2026. That’s hugely significant as that is when Saturn and Neptune are exact at 0° on February 14th – and by the minute on the 20th-so that aspect is the most important and acts as a symbolic herald of a new era at the beginning of the zodiac in a fire sign. Neptune does not return to Pisces for another 165 years after journeying through all the other signs. There is a Venus retrograde (March 3rd to 12th April) but the rest of the year Venus is forward moving and minding her own business.

So there is also a stepping backwards and forwards dance in the last quarter of the year. And Mercury can be added to the mix of retrograde energy during November- so June and July might be high points of outer planetary shifts- Jupiter goes into Cancer and Uranus into Gemini- and the Venus retrograde will be over by April, so it is the autumn when the leaves are falling in the northern hemisphere that will be a good time for reflection, strategic retreat or at least reviewing what you already started.

2: Your Battery is Low: Mars Retrograde
Botticelli
Venus and Mars (1495) Sandro Botticelli

Mars begins the year retrograde moving in to Cancer on the 6th of January. It goes back to 17° of Cancer so look to your chart to see what planets are there and which house it plays out. The last time it was in this part of the zodiac was from 2009-2010 so what were you doing back then?

It started backtracking in Leo in December 2024, but the emphasis shifts here to the more internal world of feelings about what makes you feel secure. Mars there can internalise feelings of aggression and drive, so your energies may become muted and side-tracked. It could be like having an inner warrior to fight for you against danger in your dream life, and working on those issues can help you behave much better in real conflicts in the external world.

At best, this can be a softening of any aggression or assertion ( the subtle difference between the two is palpable for more effective communication) and you may be more comforting with your words. But at worst it could slip easily into suppressed anger which tends to manifest in passive-aggressive ways, not saying what you really mean and harbouring resentments. At the very least it is a ‘your battery is running low’ feeling as Mars represents our passion drive and energy. So in reverse mode it needs to recoup its energy by spending time on the recharger before it’s ready to come out again February 24th.  More rest and self-care may be needed. The shadow period however lasts till May so there could be lingering issues.

Classically, it is good not to initiate any fights during the Mars retrograde as it has a tendency to backfire upon the person who starts the fight, and better for the one attacked.  So Mars is not necessarily weak when retrograde. But you may not have the will to fight anyone anymore as a feeling of lethargy or disgust about conflicts may come upon you. The collective feeling may be shifted towards a massive yawn about war as no one really wants that except the military-industrial complex.

Sex too may be enhanced purely by the way it feels instinctive and intuitive and not by other stimulants such as in erotic art, or by the use of sweet words and gifts. But during the retrograde it could also mean you are too tired for sex or the passion isn’t quite ‘hot’ enough to stimulate you. It’s Venus that does all the magnetic attraction but without Mars she will not get what she wants, only if it is rich with feeling and intuition will it go well. But as mentioned it all depends, first where Mars is in your chart and:  is it enflamed in a fire sign, muted in an earth sign, inflated in an air sign, or dampened in a water sign? Second, look to where the sign of Cancer is – if it is in the 12th for example, it could surface those hidden enemies in your midst. Also check your Eros – which is the other great marker of the lust for life.

At least Mars will be in direct motion from February 24th and back into Leo by 20th April where it is more at home, so that is a boost to our personal drive and energy for most of the year and a better time to put goals for 2025 in motion.

3: Pluto in Aquarius

Pluto starts the year now fully in Aquarius. It entered Aquarius on  Nov 19th 2024. It has not been in Aquarius since 1798. This will be the background canvas upon which a lot of the change takes place. Pluto trines Uranus at the end of Taurus beginning of Gemini where Sedna also is which trines the ‘Super Galactic Centre’ which is the first degrees of Libra. Pluto in Capricorn was a heavy period where the manipulations upon us from the existing institutional structures but Pluto in Aquarius may turn our attention to collective groups and where we stand with the various warring ideologies. Your familiarity with science fiction dystopias by George Orwell, Aldous Huxley , J.G. Ballard or even of the film Soylent Green (1972) may give you an advantage.

You can expect your understanding of collective humanity and how individuals are able to operate freely within it to change. The trajectory of any utopia is that it results in a dystopia  where the death of economies and humans is the collateral damage. This in a way matches the two rulers of Aquarius, Rebel (Uranus) in the morning, Dictator (Saturn) in the evening.  It is one of the progressions of life. We start with Uranus the modern ruler in youth, and end with Saturn, the traditional as we get older moving from progressive to conservative, often not realising what changed and when.

Revolutionaries have a tendency to become reactionaries as if locked in a holding pattern of behaviour. As William Blake in his poem ‘The Grey Monk’ declared ‘The iron hand crush’d the Tyrant’s head, and become a Tyrant in his stead.’ It could be inevitable as the change is only at the political and social level and not accompanied by a deeper shift in consciousness where the mind is not so disconnected from the heart. We have to ask: Do we believe in freedom for all or only some?  Do we mindlessly put society above the individual or the individual above society? If there is any ‘exception’ to that idealistic principle then does that mean we must become authoritarian too in order to enforce control? – all important questions to ask for a spot of Plutonic therapy during this time.

It may be difficult to acknowledge when people start with good intentions for a fairer society – at least at the conscious level-  but end up imposing top-down rules that rob the people of that very fairness. This desire may also be driven by an inner dictator which may be the real unconscious motivator. This will be the dilemma – lack of self awareness to the degree necessary to make the real change. Technocrats have already set in motion multiple AI algorithms to curate the lives of millions towards the end goal of a digital cage much like the concept of the Panopticonan open prison in which everything is centrally monitored and controlled. The ultimate hope would be for genuine transparency where  innovations bring about an enhancement of society relations. But the human element is missing in this equation with the consequent loss of ethics and morality. As actor Denzel Washington said “With all the things coming back in style. I can’t wait until morals, respect and intelligence become a trend again.”

Another development of Pluto in Aquarius may be greater access to the study of astrology or other esoteric subjects through innovative new technologies. Power can return to the people with Pluto here. Whatever Pluto transforms it goes to the core and Aquarian sun signs should prepare to be a different person by the end of Pluto’s journey through Aquarius and society may well be tranformed.

3: Neptune Enters Aries with Saturn

Neptune leaves Pisces and enters Aries on March 30th/31st and dips back into the late degrees of Pisces and as mentioned bringing on mental relapses and possibly uncomfortable trauma-induced flashback. It retrogrades through Aries July 5th back at 29° Pisces by October 23rd pre-samhain -and then returns to stay in Aries from January 27th of 2026. That is for another approximately 165-year cycle, spending around 14 years in each sign.

But the shift from the end of the zodiac and the beginning is monumental. Neptune and Saturn don’t meet exactly for another year, not until February 26th 2026. But we get a preview when they are close when Neptune conjuncts Saturn first degrees of Aries in May (1° apart).  But Neptune in Aries can be the spiritual warrior, pioneering compassionate causes, new modes of art, music, and appreciating the poetry of life. Neptune and Saturn meet around every 36 years and is said to be connected to events in the history of Russia as it was present in Leo at the formation of the rigid Bolshevik ideology that was the Soviet Union in 1917 and at the death of Stalin in 1953.

It was there mid-Capricorn in 1989 when the Berlin Wall was dismantled. So the theme is there quite clearly, walls or other types of ‘structure’ being erected or dissolved and this applies to ideologies of state control being cemented into place or collapsing- this aspect is even associated with slavery and its modern form of human trafficking. Saturn and Neptune came together just not in the first cardinal fire sign in 1846 when Neptune was first discovered these two planets were conjunct at 27° Aquarius April 1st of that year.

Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln engraving

The last time Neptune went from Pisces to Aries was 1861- peak of the Victorian industrial era and expansion of the British Empire- where it considered itself the ruler of the seas. It was also the time of the American Civil War where viewpoints clashed and battle lines were drawn and contested across the then disunited states. Abraham Lincoln (12/2/1809) who was born with a Saturn- Neptune conjunction in Sagittarius became president of the US in 1861 when Saturn and Neptune came together again. He declared that ‘If slavery is not wrong, then nothing is wrong.” He is remembered as being a great speaker and as an emancipator of people held in slavery and with the assassination that took him out.

The ‘Mind-Melt’ era as I have been calling it is receding, but during 2025 there could be a sinkhole quicksand effect to that endpoint of the zodiac. While Neptune is still hovering on the edge of 29° to 0°, it can push people to the verge of madness where delusions and addictions are more common. We need to keep that rooted feeling wherever possible or our heads can be turned. We are also still mopping up the mess, having to disentangle the blurred boundaries once again which Saturn has helped to do in its way through Pisces.

Social media flourished during Neptune’s stay in the deep-sea waters of Pisces (2010-2026). We still surf that sea but think also of how it is called a ‘web’ because we can become entangled. There is an asymmetric information warfare going for control of various public narratives and the web is at the centre of that. This is not just the ‘culture’ wars, but on a deeper level– delving into the metaphysical origins of what is happening, often so hidden. All this was very good for propaganda spread by all sides. Unless of course, you hold your sovereignty (Aries, Leo) this can have the effect of deepening the internal confusion. Many feel they have lost their usual anchors and mooring points, even if those are only their traditional cultural values. Secular style ideologies which may have started with good intentions of social justice have ended up becoming toxic themselves. Woke ideology, so prominent for many years, for example is experiencing a backlash as the pendulum swings  back from censorship again. But there was also pervasive ‘gaslighting’ revealing that propaganda posing as ‘real’ news can still have an insidious influence further destabilising people in a ‘post’ truth world. So hold on lightly to any belief system- it may become rapidly outmoded.

edwin booth as Hamlet
Edwin Booth as Hamlet (1870)

There is a layer of deception in most media channels. The era ‘deep fakes’ became possible with the rapid growth of A.I., and it appears that people prefer oblivion which seems more attractive than hard core reality. Hamlet said “To die; to die to sleep, perchance to dream” about a longing to be elsewhere than facing life. So, it can be a hard time for people to stay awake, to not fall back into slumber or back onto a comfortable bed of lies, or even irrationally some people actually wish for death and non-existence which is very Piscean.

But the remainder of that quote takes it a step further “Ay, there’s the rub. For in that sleep of death, what dreams may come? When we have shuffled off this mortal coil.” But while we have Neptune at the 29° degree- this is in the last decan of Neptune – there are still people ‘exiting’ the planet, from natural death, wishing to go, lack of will or lack of Eros, actual suicide, and multiple diseases and conditions arising from overly toxified bodies that compromise the immune systems. There may be a another health crisis here, but I hope not in the way it was imposed in 2020.  Saturn going into Aries rolling over the North Node going into Pisces with Neptune dipping back into Pisces and over the North Node could be troubling but also energising.

It is interesting that the issue of assisted death has come up in the UK with the new bill that has had its second reading in parliament. Death is presented as a ‘choice’ where doctors who diagnose terminal illness might be encouraged to suggest assisted death as a pathway. This trend towards exiting the planet was forecast in my video of Jupiter/Neptune  2022 and the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction of 2023 and unfortunately it has turned out to be true. That lingering confusion and malaise won’t become clearer until Neptune enters Aries. As if to reemphasise this point of dipping our heads back into the old and then establishing the new Venus goes Retrograde in April along with Mercury from the same degrees Pisces to Aries – Water to Fire reinfused by Water.

When Saturn comes in to Aries on May 24th as well with Neptune it sits on the world axis degree. That’s the real and unreal combined. That gives the potential to make dreams concrete and real provided you put in all the discipline required to do so. Saturn is the marker of boundaries and limits and obliges you to do the work before any achievement is claimed. Aries loves directness and speed, and takes action in a straight line to its goal, but Neptune is the nebulous curly line looping forwards and backwards on itself where the goal may be more unseen and quasi-mystical.

It could be a flushing out of those we idolise as May 2025 is when the P. Diddy trial starts in the US in earnest and that promises already to be a non-stop media circus. Careers are going to be not just tarnished but destroyed. That is already happening but can have a deglamourising effect, a peeling back of all the illusions where people finally begin to see how they have been played by being sucked in to the celebrity world. That’s not a nice feeling but may be necessary. It will have the power to shift people’s views about celebrities and see them for who they really are with much less idolisation. We might very well ask:  Exactly how were these particular people raised up to the limelight get their positions of esteem? Was their power and influence honestly earned? Or are they just overblown mediocrities? What real achievements support their prominence and did they achieve them ethically?

Minor Grand Trine

There is one aspect that is super interesting for 2025 Pluto, Saturn/Neptune and Uranus in a triangular relationship known as a ‘minor grand trine’. This came into not exact formation during September 2024, but it does become exact in 2025 getting close in July and peaking in August and September of 2025.  Pluto at 01° in Aquarius trines Uranus at 01° in Gemini; and Saturn with Neptune is equidistant at the midpoint sextile to both hovering over the world axis point end of Pisces beginning of Aries.

This is quite rare to see all the outer planets connected like this. It rides high above the fray and promises a kind of ‘zeitgeist’ influence that radiates strength of inspiration where it is most needed amid all the challenges. It is quite magical as it connects Saturn in a triangle Pluto and Uranus trine with Saturn in the middle, and during the eclipses Saturn/Neptune becomes the head of a beautiful and inspirational kite formation. So each of these house areas of your life where the planets are can become connected. This heralds a time where manifesting a new more innovative way of being can manifest more easily. It brings stronger, more powerful inspiration for new things to be realised. It’s a cohesive enabler aspect activating any superpower we may have, but especially for anyone who has planets at the first degrees of Aries, Aquarius and Gemini.

4: Jupiter Enters Cancer

Jupiter goes into the Cardinal sign of Cancer on June 9th of 2025.  This is one of the more beneficial changes of the year as Jupiter is exalted here. Jupiter spends just over one year in one sign and takes between 11-12 years to complete its cycle around the zodiac. We all get a Jupiter return every 12 years. That can be welcome or not depending on the configurations of your natal chart and the position of Jupiter. This is where there are parallels to the Chinese system which rotates through a cycle of animal years starting with the Rat year and ending with the Pig year. This Jupiter cycle helps explain why we may experience an energetic affinity with people who are either 12 or 24 years younger or older than us.

Jupiter was last in Cancer from 2013-14 and before that from 2001-2 and before that from 1989-90 and before that from 1977-78, so look back to what happened during these time periods for clues as to how this influence might roll out from 2025-26. These were certainly momentous years for the collective.

Jupiter in Cancer is generally considered good increasing generosity, expanding intuitions, social skills and the ability to make people feel comfortable and rich in feeling at least. We might turn our kitchens and dining rooms into more opulent living spaces and it will generate a homely feeling bringing people closer. Jupiter here could be very elevating as it encourages opportunity for Cancerians and it could expand all the sublunary intuitions and dreams of daily life, making them more varied. It could also validate the archetype of the mother – and if we don’t have that kind of person in our lives we may have to learn to be our own mothers. It can increase the art of truly feathering one’s nest for greater security with real estate plans running more smoothly.

But Jupiter will oppose any planets in Capricorn and square those in Aries and Libra- all angular signs associated with the shift of seasons that have a huge impact on our lives at key moments. But on the other hand, Jupiter can begin to be more defensive against perceived enemies as Cancer does not like to be crossed in any way and has a very long memory.

Cancer rules the stomach so it may not just expand that area with ever more delicious food feasts but increase the number of ‘gut’ feelings that may actually be ‘spot on’. It is closer to pure intuition than most signs so we’ll get more of that and perhaps more of curation of personal collections such as garments, photographs, artefacts, paintings or antiques.  We might treasure these things more than ever during this time. With Jupiter here these items we collect might be on a bigger scale than usual so much so that we run out of space to hold them.

5: Uranus Enters Gemini
Carl Bloch
Prometheus Unbound (1864) Carl Bloch

Uranus in Gemini is very appropriate as when Uranus was discovered in 1781 it was positioned in Gemini so there’s an affiinity to this sign,  ruled by Mercury; and Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury. They are both magicians of a kind, like the magician card of the Tarot, but tricksters too, it is worth remembering – they are amoral,  But we’ll not be short of fresh ideas with Uranus here. So Uranus is more at home in Gemini than it was in Taurus. It can be promising for zanier types of thinking outside the box that applies to school learning, using games to educate, or just coming up with genius plans and thoughts out of the blue, that come as lightning flashes  At the same time, it could also be unruly, rebellious and self-willed reminding us to be more our own selves as individuals and not just followers of the crowd all the time, to refer more to your own higher self as the measure of your life and not the lastest fad or consensus opinion.

We may have to check any nervous complaints as it could make us ‘wired’ up with the constant electricity that comes from Uranus in a very mental air sign. It can be considered more like the archetype of Prometheus so a bringer of fire which is inspiration and originality but we have to channel that into real life activities. Conversations could be extra lively -even witty- and we need of that verbal punning and humour, but also topics jump around, not staying on point. We may become easily distracted and lose focus if we cannot control our minds and our mouths.

Uranus leaves Taurus and enters Gemini on the 8th July 2025 but Uranus dips back into the last degrees of Taurus on the 9th November so there may be more than the usual number of earthquakes at that time. It does not re-enter Gemini until 26th April 2026 when it will be more of a mindquake- sudden shifts in thinking or in the direction of a new influx of information. This aspect suggests an explosion of information on the net or info that acts as a disruptor since Uranus is a maverick (along with Chiron) or it could trigger a spate of disagreements with siblings, relatives and neighbours. It could refer to the increase of propaganda too as very often it increases during war time and Uranus was in Gemini during several wars in the past. While on its trajectory through the sign of Gemini Uranus will oppose any planets people may have in Sagittarius and similarly square any planets people have in Pisces and Virgo. Oppositions and squares may bring more friction and challenges for the mutable signs but also bring out your resourcefulness at resolving them.

This is where dwarf planet Sedna enters the picture. Uranus will conjunct Sedna as it arrives at the beginning of Gemini. in July While Sedna effects have only recently been studied so its influence is still emerging, her archetype is one of renewal and the theme of Uranus of originality. This is about fresh life coming up from the depths of the deep sea and with it the fecundity of life or secrets hidden underwater about to be revealed and about ecological projects that can harnass sea life in productive not destructive ways.

6:  2025 Nodes and Eclipses
bryan goff

The Nodes shift from Aries/Libra axis to Pisces/Virgo axis on the 12th January 2025 which is early in the year to bring such a paradigm shift. The focus moves into these body spirit areas. This adds to the whole sea change of undercurrents and feeligns that we undergo  in 2025.  The last time rhe North Node was in Pisces and the South Node in Virgo was from June 2006- December 2007 so it is always useful to reflect back on what occurred during that time. The North and South Nodes (known as Rahu and Ketu in Vedic astrology) shift every 18 months. Virgo is about bodily needs and routines and Pisces is about the aspirations and yearnings of the soul so there’s the interaction of the psyche (soul) and soma (body)- about this axis.  The interconnection between the two may be more pronounced. It may help to remind us to not see these as completely separate entities, each in their own domain, but inextricably linked operating symbiotically in their own unique ecosystem.

Yogis say it is the breath which connects the body with the mind and spirit. So breathing techniques are especially powerful in 2025. The deeper and longer the breath is, the more beneficial it is as the idea is it can extend your life. When the nodes shift, it is always significant, but this point in the zodiac the Nodes connect to Saturn-Neptune on the world axis degree.

Eclipses

There are four eclipses in 2025: two in March and two in September. The first one in March is a total Lunar eclipse at 23° of Virgo. The one on March 29th is a partial Solar Eclipse at 8° of Aries. The one in September on the 7th is another total Lunar eclipse at 15° of Pisces and the second is at 28° of Virgo and that’s another partial Solar eclipse. Eclipses affect everyone and we can expect changes- people and events coming in and out of our lives – as in a revolving door, often where we may not notice who’s come in and who out until much later. This will be particularly true if you happen to have planets at any of these points in these signs.

The September 7th Lunar eclipse aligns to the Nodes, as most eclipses do, but these are now in Pisces and Virgo so bringing up psycho-somatic issues. They are just 3° away suggesting something karmic or fated. The 21st September partial Solar eclipse is exactly opposite the conjunction of Saturn/Neptune so that is huge and will very likely have a huge impact, highlighting all the themes of energies positioned at the beginning of the zodiac, the world axis point. That’s new innovations, not following the old ways and even now they are talking of abandoning the old system of voting in governments.  Again it aligns to the minor grand trine of Pluto to Uranus sandwiching Saturn/Neptune, so there is an influx outer planet inspiration here. Saturn is at the point of a kite formation, so it is definitely auguring something major that could reach great heights.

7: GENERAL FORECAST FOR 2025

zodiac

We are moving generally into more Fire and Air signs than Water and Earth so things will pick up speed. To best understand this section, it is useful to know about your zodiac sign and which element and ‘triplicities’ it belongs to. There are four elements of three signs each which develop in succession from Fire to Earth to Air to Water. These roughly match up to Jung’s scheme of the Four personality types Intuition (Fire) Intellect (Air) Earth (Sensation) and Water (Feeling) so that alludes also to the energy affinity – Fire and Air set each other off and Earth and Water like to contain each other. Some say that ‘Aether’ was the missing ‘fifth’ element which is very curious as Aether is more like interpenetrating space so while it is invisible, it is there anyway as the quintessence of the action that Pluto in Aquarius might have.

7:1 FIRE SIGNS: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

Aries and Sagittarius are already suited to change and moving forward so you may feel in tune with the changes but still liable to overdo things. Leo on the other hand may have a harder time with change, being a fixed sign. They may be forced to adapt to new circumstances.  Activity has been quiet for the Fire signs. But there will be Saturn, Neptune and Chiron all in Aries in 2025. Mars does return however to the fire sign of Leo from 19th April and it moves into Virgo on the 17th June. So this period from April to June is a good one to move forward.

Neptune arrives in Aries in March and Saturn there in June. This can be either enhancement or loss of the flame of inspiration that comes naturally to fire signs. They are coasting close together within one degree, but that is just preparation for arriving hand in hand as if they have made a treaty together- which will be January 2026. Things no doubt will spearhead forward giving you much needed structured inspiration for your life.

For Aries 2025 puts you in a central position as leader of the pack as the year’s biggest and most significant conjunction happens right in your sign. Though it does not become exact until early 2026 the preview from March to June should give you an idea what to expect. It’s time for a renewal of your body and image. While it could be the deflating of your grandiose illusions, this stepping back and clearing up can bring greater achievement through facing realities and taking courageous leaps forward.

It could be that you bring new physical disciplines to your exercise routine to build more muscle, but with a spiritual flavour. It would be important to keep all that in balance as there could be a relapse into old ways towards the end of the year. Bear in mind that Chiron is still in Aries and stays at 19° for a long time at the beginning of the year. This is the wound of existence, the feeling of whether we have the right to exist or not along the lines of Hamlet’s speech ‘to be or not to be’. It can make you question your ‘raison d’etre’and wobble on your life purpose.

Teaching and learning may come to the fore as a way to evolve and you may also overhaul your modes of communication perhaps with an upgrade of your technology. This then can help you reach different groups and experiment more with any humanitarian concerns either online or in your community.  Real estate is always important to you and making your home more luxurious could in your mind also enhance its value. Mars, your ruler was in Leo at the end of 2024 and Trining your sign. Mars does well in fire signs so the energy can be smooth. But then it moves backwards into Cancer where he’s less of a hot potato and more muted generally. But Mars is still going retrograde so avoid being pugnacious and avoid starting any fights as that has a weird way of backfiring upon you.

LeoFor Leo being a fixed sign can have difficulties with change, and they tend to adapt more slowly. Mars starts the year in your sign, firing you up with energy. But be aware they ‘retro’ effect may mean you need more rest and recuperation time. Then it goes into Cancer and may  hide your motivations even from your own view. The difficulties that arise may be because you still have yet to make clear and conscious what is unconsciously causing issues.

Yet, you are lucky to have Jupiter in your 12th House, also there. Jupiter can act as a mysterious guardian angel coming to your aid- even in the unconscious realm. It may affect your dream-life making nightly dreaming extra fertile and imaginative, covering a whole range of adventures, but it cannot be guaranteed to help in a crisis in the real world, unless you make that deliberate connection between unconscious drives and conscious actions. You still need all your wits about you to steer your way through 2025.

Socrates said ‘the unexamined life is not worth living’. So you may find you have a boost of energy to research your fundamental beliefs either through reading more or going to a course of study about philosophy and spiritual concerns, or you might meet a teacher who takes a strict view and that helps bring order to your world and assess what’s real and what’s not real with better discernment. You could take more to using the internet to find friends and join groups you wish to belong to. Relating your strength and radiance as an individual with fitting in to groups may often have caused problems, but your mind is now more willing to work through some old traumatic issues which can be triggered by almost anyone you meet, but especially family, as the issues lie deep in your psyche. You may also be looking for a much deeper more psychologically attuned emotional connection with a partner and that may go through some changes that are disturbing. It may take a long time for any better outcomes to emerge from this process but avoid any power play fights as power and love are uneasy bedfellows and you may find resistance crops up from the very person you least expect it to come.

SagSagittarius is often good at spotting opportunities before other people – they can often see around corners- and that skill will definitely be needed to navigate 2025 with skill. But with Saturn and Neptune being strong in Aries, a fellow fire sign, that trines to your sign during 2025 and tends to work better to highlight the best of both archetypes- where they blend well together. So that is the emergence of the spiritual warrior who acts with restraint and strategic wisdom. This higher level of insight and intuition can help you see clearly what needs to be done and what stratum of reality you are dealing with.

Saturn and Neptune have now left Pisces which is good for you as all the while that Neptune and Saturn were in Pisces, they opposed planets in Virgo and squared planets in your sign, Sagittarius.  That could have created problems for you adjusting to all the conflicting narratives about reality and even hitting hard in your personal life. That will now fade in intensity and that allows you to get on with your life more smoothly.

Also, while Jupiter was in Gemini it opposed any planets in Sagittarius, so you felt that oppositional pull on your luck from time to time. But now Jupiter, your ruler, arrives in Cancer in June and it loves being there so this could have a knock-on effect for you. It could bring an expansion and deepening of feelings, greater receptivity and caring more about the small things closer to home and not in those flung countries you’d love to visit.

7:2 EARTH SIGNS: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

Earth signs tend to like predictable and regular scenarios, so where there are multiple changes happening simultaneously, they feel unsettled. It’s all too up in the air for them to feel grounded. So 2025 brings challenges to their routines. Uranus and Pluto have now left your signs bringing some relief but they will always affect you somewhere in the chart, just not your home sign. While Uranus was in Taurus, it opposed any planets in Scorpio so Scorpios felt that too.  Now it is time for the Air signs to feel the alchemical melting heat of Pluto as it transforms all it touches. Earth signs may feel somewhat relieved that the pressure to change is off and life may quieten down.

Taurus has had Uranus in their sign for a long time but in July it moves out, so there could be a stabilising feel in 2025 that all the new things that popped into your life can now be handled as part of a regular routine, and that the influx of surprises that you had to juggle begins to subside. That energy moves in to the area of self-esteem though so it can still rock the boat from time to time. It may bring  fresh ideas you have not tried before of how to manage your resources.

In 2025, there may be a flood of interest in reading and studying school-books and valuing more all that you have learned or even it could emerge as a hobby of collecting toys as mementos or that you find solace in playing with children. This could even be applied to career goals if you manage to master any new skills and learn to apply those to your personal situation. It might be worth gemming up on all the latest techniques to improve efficiency.  Your energy and drive may shift to your hidden and unconscious areas which are a bit more difficult to access and make conscious. Changes may be felt on a deeper level or just manifest in the wildness of dreams you have, an increased interest in spirituality, or you may just feel the need for extra bed rest and seclusion while you work through these bodily tensions that represent traumas you did not realise need so much care and love in order to be fully healed. Also, you could bring a tidier organisation to that process all the while reviewing how you through about your career and reputation.

VrrgoFor Virgo the most significant shift is that the Nodes and Eclipses are coming into your sign this year. In January the South Node moves into the end of your sign for a stay of 18th months. Please check all that was said above about the eclipses as that now pertains to you and you may see a lot of things just disappear out of your life and also flood in almost unannounced. The eclipse cycle may trigger any planets you have in Virgo. So the key dates and degrees for you are: March 14th at 23° of Virgo,  September 7th at 15° of Virgo, and September 21st at 28/29 ° of Virgo. But this last one could be the most inspirational as it connects to the triangulation of Pluto, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus all at the same time. So that could be very elevating.

We have all endured numerous eclipses every year so there’s nothing unusual about eclipses, but if they are in your sign, they might highlight issues related to Virgo so you may have to do a thorough audit or deep cleaning and tidying session that helps you understand the details to get a better grasp on what is changing and make it more precise to your satisfaction. Be careful of over critising and missing being able to see any positive outcomes.  There may be a change in working routines too which undergo an overhaul or radical rethink affecting more your inner psychological reality. This could be arduous but will remove anything not needed and that paring down to essentials will be good for you in the long run.

CapricornFor Capricorn the big relief will be that in 2025 Pluto will finally leave you alone and the pressure to continually change may recede more into the background of your life. You may also realise that since 2008,  while Pluto has been in your sign, you have been raked over the coals and challenged on many levels but you have come through it fairly well with greater self-knowledge and savvy about money. While Pluto was in Capricorn it challenged you in fundamental behaviours and Capricorns may not feel they are the same people that they were back in 2008. Pluto was also opposing any planets in Cancer so if you have any planets in that sign you have felt that shift on a deeper level than most. But also squares to any planets in Aries and Libra.

This level of intensity now moves into your Second house affecting the fluctuations of your income. But it feels less like a personal challenge and just one of the many things you can handle on a daily basis. It would be tempting to say that you may find a wealthy partner this year as in June Jupiter moves into your 7th house of marriage and partnerships, but that is only if the opportunities are seized.

It could be that it is not a lover but some teacher or guru appears and you follow their advice, but in general your love life could run more smoothly, or you find someone in a foreign country, or it is someone who is rich, if that is what you are looking for.  As Capricorn is ruled by Saturn there’s a flavour of restriction to your love life and it tends to be much less frivolous unless Venus happens to be also in your home sign and can soften the Saturnian tendencies.

7: 3 AIR SIGNS: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

Air signs are more at home in the world of ideas and information than other signs. The fact that the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction of 2020 heralded a long synodic cycle of these recurring conjunctions will happen more in Air signs will bring the speed of the wind especially to information technology and innovations. AI is already working to change our way of working in this manner and can be a symbol of this shift.

GeminiFor Gemini Uranus is that unique energy in all of us that allow us to remove the psychological masks more authentic, more often, even if that means breaking free from old patterns, even more than usual. It may trigger more unaccountable acts of defiance and rebellion as you feel more like marking clear boundaries around your independence and sovereignty as you want to protect your uniqueness. So in July, the focus is more on you and you might realise you enjoy reading books and studying new topics, going back to school or playing with children. You may feel it’s time for a renewal or make over and change the way you dress and appear to others where perhaps they don’t recognise you or find you quirkier than usual.

You may also begin to review some of your deepest held beliefs, and feel a paradigm shift here for a more spiritual inclination. But it can also make us feel too plugged into the mains with so many hobbies and projects we don’t know where to start and so Geminis especially must take care to avoid the scatter-gun effect. Avoid taking on more than they can handle as while you are good at juggling, it is better to give all your attention to each project in turn. With Uranus here hyperactivity can become the norm so try to keep a steady pace and watch out for nervous complaints, insomnia and spreading yourself too thinly, or just not finishing what you start and having a string of abandoned ideas.

You had many options appear while Jupiter was in Gemini but once it leaves there may be a bit of comedown feeling. But that is very short lived as when Uranus arrives in your sign to switch things around adding to all the excitement again. Sparks fly in a different direction emphasising your dexterity and versatility and ability to adapt. When Jupiter moves into Cancer in June you could feel a boost to your self- esteem, and going on shopping sprees more often, and you could get the urge to gamble and so your finances become perilous, more like a feast or famine type of energy where your income and outgoings might swing to extremes.

LibraFor Libra 2025 can bring some changes and with the Saturn/Neptune conjunction happening in your house of relationships and partners- the very area that brings you most happiness and self-definition through others. There could be some harsh realities to face which require a more Stoical and spiritual approach, and not clinging on to illusions. With Chiron there you may feel extra sensitive in this area and feel wounded somehow. Libra has been home to the North Node for the past two years pointing you in whatever direction is needed to follow. Sometimes following your path is not easy and you have to learn the hard way what your dharma may entail. The Nodal points shift from Cardinal to Mutable signs Pisces and Virgo so there is less to worry about. You may have been on high of opportunities and travel or education.

With Uranus in your 9th There could be an overhaul of your deepest held beliefs or if you were not aware you had a philosophy, events might spring you into action to clarify what they are. You may travel more and suddenly wonder what it’s like to live in a foreign culture or learning a foreign language. You may receive opportunities to expand your career and reputation so pay attention to those chances and be prepared to work hard for any advancement or chance to travel that comes through.

Pay attention when Venus, your ruler, goes retrograde from March to April through Pisces and Aries. Venus goes from Pisces where she’s right at home to Aries where she becomes somewhat pushy and then she goes back to Pisces, so there’s a lot of re-evaluating to do here about where your self-value lies in conflict with any romantic notions of ideal love.

AquariusPluto has arrived in Aquarius for a long stay which we will all have to get used to but especially Aquarians as you now play ‘host’ to the premier archetype of healing any deep-seated traumas. Its actions are usually profound  and permanent. Pluto here will oppose any planets in the early degrees of Leo and square those in Taurus and Scorpio so there may be some tension and challenge for those people. But if your planets are in later degrees of the fixed signs, it will take some years for this to come into effect.

2025 establishes that Pluto is now in the house of your appearence and physical body, so while it may happen slowly over the next few years, there will definitely be radical change afoot and a re-evaluation of friendships and groups to which you belong. There may be a increased depth to any inner reflection and, if you have not used one in the past, the benefits of a therapist may begin to appeal to you much more, or you see the value of taking a more psychologically acute approach to life.  Use the retrograde periods later in the year to help you with this.

You may have to strive to put more efforts into any teaching and learning projects, and to flavour your words and communications with a more serious but compassionate tone that seems fresh and new for you. Your other ruler, Uranus, can bring a greater facility of ideas and you may spend ore time on creative pursuits, or games that you have devised yourself. These could involve more out-of-the-box thinking than usual. Or, you may find yourself attracted to having affairs with people you little expected to ever have an attraction for previously.

7: 4 WATER SIGNS: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

Water signs feel their way through life and they can do it almost with their eyes closed.  In 2025 there is a stronger focus on the cardinal sign of Cancer with first Mars and then Jupiter being there and less on Scorpio and Capricorn.

CancerCancerians can applaud the arrival of the largest benefic into your sign in early June. That will be a welcome booster for sure to your confidence and would be the right time for making big plans for growth, and possibly even for foreign travel if that is tempting to you to be away from home.

There is an especially promising New Moon on June 25th where the Sun, Moon and Jupiter all get together from 3-4° of Cancer. Plant your seedlings on this date and plans could prosper nicely. But Jupiter can also too much of a good thing at times and there’s a tendency to overdo and overinflate promises, ideas, investments, or overeat leading to stomach issues and indigestion and all this might need reigning in from time to time with more strategic planning. You may want to move into more opulent surroundings and decorate your home with your collection of treasures. It’s a nest building time, but one with expanded horizons, looking beyond the home too. Your intuitions will be on fire and highly accurate.

There may also be changes to your long held beliefs about relationships as you deepen your psychological insight into that area of intimacy and transform how to manage any shared resources. Also you may find you have a boost of new energy for your career and work life and are able to lay strong foundations for the future in a constructive way.

ScorpioScorpios may feel that the attention is not on them much in 2025 so they can get on and work hard in the background, and by June 9th Jupiter will be opposing planets in your sign. That can bring a push and pull energy, inflating and deflating any plans you may have. There may be changes to your home life on the cards, a move to another location, or a feeling that your home life needs to be transformed.

But at the same time there may be a massive expansion and enjoyment of higher learning, studying philosophy, reconsidering all your beliefs and thinking about foreign travel as Jupiter resides in your 9th House where it finds a home. Where the sparks begin to fly may be in psychological and emotional depth, where we feel closest and most intimate to others, or where we  share resources.  The disruptions here can bring a jolt or two but also bring clever new ideas of how to manage finances.

2025 may be a good year to overhaul your routines and either bring more spirituality to them, honouring the highest and best that is possible, but also to establish more rigid disciplines and sticking to plans on a daily basis. That could be exercise plans, breathing, grounding, diets, health enhancing modalities, general self-care or just household chores. They say the routine is the same as the ‘path’ or higher pathway so in one sense the distinction is illusory and you could find more inspiration from doing the daily stuff that used to feel onerous.

PiscesPisces may have to wait the whole year to experience full relief yet as Neptune and Saturn finally move out of your sign. Most of the year they hover over that anaretic degree of Pisces, but they both dip back again into Pisces again later in the year, so all that was said in the introduction could apply to you- a feeling of relapse into of striving hard for creativity but then finding it does not quite reach the standard you hoped.  Things may still feel inchoate and out of your control. Unless you are fully grounded there could be a falling back into that mental fog and uncertainties that lack concrete form. Falling back into losses, and illusions could occur, so you may have to wait until January 2026 for all the mystificaitons to clear in full. At least it is better to be forearmed about this.

On the positive side, it can encourage super hard work which you may enjoy more than ever to increase all your spiritual goals.  That could be welcome and constructive but needs containingthrough being more disciplined.  The energy then all moves into your second house of possessions and self-esteem. But this will all feel like you have been renewed as it is at the beginning of the entire zodiac and can feel like a massive fresh start, a new cycle and all that this brings is promising and full of potential. The Nodes and eclipses this year move into your sign so they could be important dates for you and the opposite axis of Virgo. This is especially true for the September 21st Partial Solar Eclipse which is where Neptune has moved out of Pisces but still close to Saturn at 28° opposite the Sun/Moon at 28/29 of Virgo. This interlinks Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini so it could be an inspirational moment for knowing what to change in your life as you get downloads from on high and feel the universe is supporting you somehow.
