1: Jupiter on the Move
The biggest most gaseous planet Jupiter is on the move again in mid-May. It’s a regular cycle and at the same time a long journey for Jupiter as it traverses the entire zodiac. See below for how that affects each sign in relation to Taurus being in the first house. Every year Jupiter moves from one sign to the next, but nevertheless, it is powerful and significant energy shift. Uranus, the great awakener has been in Taurus since 2018 and stays there until 2026 shaking up the global economy and getting us out of our rut. But from 2023-2024 we’ll have both expansive Jupiter and iconoclast Uranus in Taurus so look to where Taurus is to see where that will affect you.

On May 16th/17th Jupiter enters Taurus and it might be a return to simplicity amid all the chaos and complexity brought on by the eclipses but do not hold your breath. It has spent a year in Aries challenging us to travel further afield whether that be mentally or geographically. Now it is its time in Taurus whose symbol is the bull and Jupiter once morphed into the form of a bull to get his way. Jupiter stays there until May 26th 2024 when it moves on into Gemini. It arrives in Taurus close to Mercury which is still retrograde in Taurus, but square to Pluto so will expand that force of change in technologies heralded by Pluto in Aquarius. Pluto is now retrograding back into Capricorn. It slips in to Taurus just in time for a New Moon in Taurus on the 19th.

Jupiter in a Feminine Earth sign brings the beneficence down to the tangible, touchable seeable world where its manifestation potential increases. Taurus is stable and loves slowing down to enjoy the concrete reality so losing your phone for a day won’t be so bad, just sit in the park instead, chew the cud and take more digital holidays. Watch a cow just happily chewing grass all day. It is also a sensitive and empathetic sign in spite of the stubbornness from its legendary fixity. Whenever Jupiter holds hands with Venus, the ruler of Taurus, financial improvements could be on the way, but with Uranus still there they are likely to be digital or arrive in a surprising way, faster than expected or from an unusual angle.
Mercury has been backtracking in Taurus but when Jupiter enters, it is a day after Mercury goes direct so talking about all that we value will be easier and more immediate- there will be greater clarity there. From the 9th to 13th June Jupiter touches that same 5° where Mercury stations on May 14th so there could be a recurrence of themes to do with commerce, banking and any new financial system, the Earth’s resources, food production and all that we value. Everything that came up for review can be highlighted again. This is as well as Jupiter activating the 29° point of the solar eclipse reviving what happened then.
Then after the New Moon in Taurus on the 19th, Jupiter culminates into a not-to-be-ignored Grand Cross formation and by May 21st Jupiter conjuncts the North Node, opposes the South Node and squares Pluto at 0° of Aquarius. That is when Mars is at 0° of Leo so the grand fixed cross forms. This could bring major news of conflicts and a shift in socio-political paradigms that creates some kind of deadlock or standoff – a kind of checkmate where forces ranged against each other cannot move easily and force their hand. So that is quite intense, as those born with a grand cross in their charts already know, but Jupiter conjunct the North Node will provide the way out even if it feels like bristling against the edges of your confinement. Jupiter can be a luminous spiritual guide in his highest most elevated mode. So look to what he points to. Mars in Leo is an added claim for power that could be impulsive and willful in the multiple demands for who is in charge in the fast shifting world of geo-politics. The entire configuration is volatile but also very fixed which may help to steady matters.

The South Node at 2° of Scorpio is on a previous eclipse point from November 2022. So there’s a mountain of fixity here and feels like an immovable object is pressured to move which might not be easy and this could relate to several trends which have been boiling up: the acceleration of AI taking over from humans, the banking crisis and introduction of CBDCs whether we want them or not, or a further deadlocked crisis in Ukraine, or even some new crisis hitherto unheard of. The eclipses have been triggering a lot of change- anything that could pivot one way or the other seems to have done that. Journalist Tucker Carlson was fired from Fox news and I think we may certainly hear more about Carlson as Jupiter enters Taurus on May 16th the very same day of his solar return- he is a Taurus with the Sun and Jupiter on his birth degree. Also, with the Biden family, there are revelations coming out, seemingly unstoppable.
People have noted the similarity of the 12-year Jupiter cycle to the cycle of animals used in Chinese Astrology which runs from the Rat to the Pig rotating through the five elements fire, earth water, wood, and metal and renews its cycle every 12-years. Similarly, in western tropical astrology Jupiter returns to the same sign every 12 years. But in fact it is more precisely, 11.86 years, so some say that the energies of the Chinese animal come sooner each year as that slowly catches up to the time sequence. It is an area to be more thoroughly investigated over long periods of time.
It’s good to be reminded among this collective deadlock of Jupiter’s symbolism, how it ranges far and wide: he’s the guru; the eternal optimist, forever overestimating the luck he has; he’s also the worldly-one, unshockable, knowing, the philanderer for anyone married to him, rampant, irascible, powerful yet the bringer of blessings. And added to that, he is a great shape-shifter. He appears in many guises, so it’s dangerous to assume we know the full spectrum of his multi-faceted nature as he has a capacity to morph and pop up in a different forms each one of which could carry you off with your own excess habits.

He even appeared as a bull in order to seduce Europa in the myth and this is the phase of his domain that will manifest now while he is in Taurus. He’s the seeker of simple, practical pleasures, food and fine furnishings that allow a an ease of existence with few jagged edges, and he has an eye on the money and the acquisition of money so brings prosperity too. He’s also in his more mysterious form the Hierophant in the major arcana Tarot. This is more like Jupiter in Scorpio a purveyor of the occult arts and esoteric philosophy and expands the depth of knowledge there. Jupiter brings blessings to every sign, as long as his antics are balanced and managed.
2: Jupiter Archetype
The Jupiter archetype is embodied in literature, film and music with the adventures of the gigantic Pantagruel by Francois Rabelais, and the oafish, good-humoured, beer-swilling characters like Falstaff in Shakespeare. He’s also the exhuberant bringer of Jollity in Gustav Holst’s suite written during WWI, and even Father Christmas has a whole lot of Jupiter in him, bearing a sack of gifts, and ruling the month of December which is Sagittarius season. Jupiter rules Sagittarians so they should pay special attention to where Jupiter is in their charts, but as traditional ruler of Pisces he may also have a more personal impact.

People born with Jupiter in Taurus like Keanu Reeves, Sara Jessica Parker and Sandra Bullock, all born in 1964 come across as clear-cut, and straightforward and appealing in a wholesome way. But going further back to 1952 there was Liam Neeson and Mickey Rourke also with Jupiter in Taurus.
But to find the echo of a pattern of those born with both Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus we have to go back to1940-41 during WWII. There was John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Faye Dunaway, Frank Zappa, Dario Argentino, and Julie Christie, but also Master of Masters, Bruce Lee again who aimed at simplicity of style but packed a loaded kick.
But Jupiter’s signature is there in any other larger-than-life characters like the newspaper tycoon in Citizen Kane. This was played by Orson Welles, himself a Taurus, but with Jupiter in Pisces, yet the film, rated as one of the best ever made, was released in 1941 when Jupiter was in Taurus. Jupiter is associated with broadcasting and publishing so it fits the topic. But Jupiter is also linked to higher education, learning, the study of abstruse subjects and purveyors of deep knowledge, of religion and myths and the acquisition of wisdom, but is also a tad prone to indulgences, hyperbole, corruption and vice.
Another possible positive outcomes is the link between Jupiter and Venus. Venus is ruler of Taurus that bestows good fortune especially when conjoined with Jupiter, but she moves on into Cancer on May 8th and then into Leo by June 6th. A Jupiter-Venus conjunction is notably one of the brightest in the sky and is seen as brining money, opportunities, social connections, all the positive that we agree are great for us and expand opportunities. But just be aware that once it veers into ‘too much, the problems begin. Mae West’s joke that “too much of a good thing can be wonderful” comes to mind as it contradicts the more common response that having ‘Too Much’ can be overkill.
Think what happens when poor people win the lottery- what they gain they lose just as easily. Jupiter is not necessarily beneficial when the good tips over into the bad end of the spectrum and goes on an extravaganza-bonanza. Each archetype has its shadow side and greatness is one thing, but grandiosity takes it a step too far. Jupiter likes to be grandiose. In Taurus this might mean he throws a bit more weight around, unless he is contained and channelled into areas of growth and development in resources.
Jupiter in Taurus puts the emphasis back on the Earth. Author and esoteric Bulwer-Lytton wrote a novel about the Vril the Coming Race (1871). Many including Rudolph Steiner believed there was a lot of truth to it. The Vril-ya were descendants of people who lived inside the Earth in tunnels and caverns and this echoes the resurgence of interest in possessing the most reliable and stable of earth’s metals and resources such as gold and silver as a way to reconnect with what is real. It is symbolic to say gold does not lose its value over long periods of time. The Viri-ya had telepathic powers and harnessed a power the Vril itself which can both heal and destroy -loosely like electro-magnetism, or Chi energy.
Perhaps there is a lesson for us here how to access the body’s natural energies? This points to a choice point with Jupiter in Taurus about what we really want to do to reorient ourselves towards our bodies and to the Earth. The word Bovril is a portmanteau of the words ‘bovine’ and ‘vril’ linking it to the symbol of Taurus, the cow.
Perhaps Jupiter in Taurus links to the philosophy that the Earth is a living breathing organism so Gaia highlights how much we’ve moved away from the old Pagan connection to the Earth –that humans integrate intrinsically with it. Yet the Earth is the centre point of the horoscope treated like a blind spot we take for granted- your ‘Earth’ sign is opposite the Sun sign but few talk about it in this way so the Earth can be a blind spot in astrology.
This is after all where we have our feet on the ground which is always necessary but will be extra important during Jupiter’s stay there, keep weighted down so not to float off on some unobtainable goal and bounce your head against the clouds in your search for wisdom. When the grand cross fixed square energy hits mid May, remember to stand in the centre of the square and look for answers coming from any direction and imagine where the key to the padlock is- most likely what Jupiter suggests is the answer.
James Lovelock the creator of the Gaia theory interestingly only had one planet in an earth sign- Venus in Virgo, but none in Taurus, or Capricorn. But Pantheism its related philosophy of Pan-psychism existed long before Lovelock’s theory was formulated. It derives from the Neo Platonic concept of Amina Mundi– the living, breathing spirit of the world.
Finally, on the same theme as Jupiter and the Earth it is worth noting that in Astro-cartography we can track the angles and lines the planets make across the earth. We can locate Jupiter geographically to find best place to retire on the earth. While we look for Venus to find the best place for social enhancement we look to Jupiter is to find the best place to spend your glory days towards the end of life. To find both coincide is a bonus, but everything depends on the configurations of your natal chart.
Retirement is a nice image of Jupiter in Taurus as Taurus loves peace, and serenity and a secure, stable existence- what better way to end your days? So these locations are like gold for the native and definitely worth looking for. Most of us however are born in places which do not necessarily enhance social and work success. Other places might be better for that and it takes time to experience all the places we’d like to go.
3: Jupiter through the Zodiac Signs
So, when Jupiter arrives in a sign or house it brings not just fresh air but a gale force of expansion that could go either way and blow a few things down. Jupiter in a zodiac sign affects the manner in which that sign expresses itself, and Jupiter in the house is where that area of life the energy manifests in the world, all that we can see in the outcomes and events that happen. This is where the ‘as above -so below’ actually comes to life.
So we may need some containment strategies with a runaway Jupiter. Good luck famously only manifests if you are ready to pick the fruit, so preparedness really matters to take advantage of any opportunities; otherwise, the luck can pass you by.
But remember that Jupiter is just one piece on the chess board and its relationship. Always check your natal chart for which house Taurus falls is to see where the Jupiter energy is coming through, but also check your Rising sign. Also look for the houses/signs where the grand cross falls-as that may be relevant too as the dynamic energies take us into June.
3:1 Jupiter in Taurus
So if your Sun is in Taurus, this is the period of your solar return. Jupiter will meet all the planets you have there but the main one will be Jupiter crossing your natal Sun- that transit is coming up. If your Jupiter happens to be in Taurus in your natal chart you are about to have a Jupiter return as well so that’s a bonus wind of opportunity you can ride if you wish. Hold the reins tight to not get carried away with hope- there are still practical necessities to deal with in today’s volatile scenarios. Yet don’t hold on so much that you cannot let go of things that need to go, as you may need you to do that.
You can welcome Jupiter in your sign this for a year and that’s like it being in the first House. It’s all about you and your experience and how you appear to the world, your status and persona. It may have an effect on your physical body but Jupiter never neglects the mind so it can also extend the range of your ideas, broadening your outlook. So you might review how you look with a more stately style, more imposing, larger perhaps, even extending the waistline and you might want to monitor that. Generally Jupiter is nice to Taurus, bestowing a natural flow around resources and money that can be good for business, or give a booster to an interest in philosophy, religion, law, spirituality and higher learning or just making international connections. That also might enhance your sense of your own independence.
Jupiter will be in Taurus from May 16th to May 2024. The last time it was there was in 2012 so there could be a reverberation of what happened then.
3:2 Gemini
For those with the Sun in Gemini the impact of Jupiter in Taurus will rule over your second house in relation to the position of Taurus.
Jupiter in this area could be good for finances, and developing new ways to understand your value. Valuables are not necessarily physical items but simple things. It could enhance your area of influence in society through a change in status. But since finance and banking is in an unusually volatile state where the fissures are appearing in the systems, there may be some ups and downs to handle. It may shine a light into how you can do this and how to be flexible and adaptable in your management of gains and losses.
Jupiter here may increase the sonority of your voice either through mellifluous speaking or even singing. After Jupiter’s year-long stay in Taurus, it will be coming into your sign so in May of 2024. Best get ready for that.
3:3 Cancer
For Cancers in relation to Jupiter in Taurus this will influence your third house. This will expand all the talk that goes on around you, at home, and with your family, with the neighbours, on the internet, via emails and communications of all kinds. This can be enjoyable as the discussion of ideas can be satisfying and you may pride yourself on the sharpness of your intellect by studying a few more subjects or keeping bang up to date on your specialisms. You might feel more camaraderie with family and friends, and a feeling of magnanimity that you chose to express and that can make you feel better in and of itself. But, it may just be that you have to have a limit to how many calls and emails you can handle in one day or how many books you can read.
You may decide to take a few more short trips and find those enjoyable as even sometimes just walking down a different street on the way home can give you a different perspective on the same routine.
Jupiter is exalted in Cancer so there could be some extra benefits for you even in the are of gifted intuition, but the impact will be in more short trips, business contacts, exchanges of ideas.
3:4 Leo

For Leos this movement of Jupiter influence covers your Fourth house. This may reconnect with your mother and what is going on with her. There may also be an interest in a family genealogy where you trace the history and lineage of your ancestors, and you learn something new about your childhood origins which surprises you and fans the flames of the desire to investigate more. It could lead to hearing about an inheritance perhaps or the realisation of a noble style of integrity in the family that you align more closely with.
Or, it could emerge as an interest in feathering your nest more, about your home furnishings where you will incorporate a more ethnic objects and items from other countries to help give your home a richness and opulence. Home will be very important to create that sense of stability during rocky times. you may reconnect to how you felt as a child and begin to provide more for yourself in terms of all that nourishes you. Or if you have been away from home for a while it may be pleasurable to return and stay put for a while.
3:5 Virgo
For Virgos Jupiter lands in your Fifth House and that’s very nice and may feel easier for you than most.
Jupiter can expand your creative urges and give a booster to some of those ideas you have shelved, so maybe it’s time to dust those off and restart them again. Even if you have not any creative projects on the go you may feel that it’s time to go and play a bit more in your leisure time, to spend time with younger people, either your own children or those of friends and family. You could find , and find you enjoy playing a few games just for the sake of it or even talking more seriously with them about spiritual matters. You might find that new love affairs come into view or at least the options for that, allowing for more possibilities for romance even if they are never realised. Try not to over analyse that and just go with what happens.
There’s a sense that Jupiter here brings a more fertile imagination so keep your notebook handy to write any fresh ideas down that may give you the edge in your career and for your next career move. You may wish to go out more to the theatre to idle around watching whatever entertainment there may be on display. You feel more up for a good time and that may help you to relax more.
3:6 Libra
For sun in Libra, the Jupiter energy lands in your Sixth house.
Jupiter in this area could turn your attention to the immediate environment, where you go and what you do every day, your budget and cash flow. It can make mountains out of molehills with work colleagues, so keep an eye on that in order to stop any inflation of minor disagreements when they could most likely be easily resolved. An enemy may pop up again and you may need to deal with that strategically.
Jupiter here may also increase the desire to work on your dietary intake, your health, or to do an audit on your your daily routines, exercise habits and an interest in health protocols and/or more spiritual practices that require daily effort. You may explore all the healing modalities too that you may not have had time for before.
You may find a way to be of more service to play Lord or Lady bountiful to your local community and you find satisfaction in that. For some it might enhance business contacts as Jupiter marries to Mercury here and while it is not always yielding of good results, the chances are increased during this time.
3:7 Scorpio
For Scorpios this energy lands in your Seventh House.
Jupiter in the seventh brings a beneficent lover into your orbit, someone who is generous and loyal and helps you a great deal, or is well connected in some way and from whom you profit monetarily in some way. Or, it can mean that you yourself will be inclined to be more generous to a partner where your feelings are more benign than usual and your wish to help them increases.
It could also just emphasise the ‘teacher’ role in your relationships including any business partnerships where you adopt a more ‘guru-like’ stance and the energy can become archetypal in that sense and you meet more people who see you as the leader.
At the very least it can increase your search for knowledge about yourself and others and your relationships. You find that you can only deal with people who share your broad-minded views. Be aware of laziness here and sitting back to let others do all the work.
3:8 Sagittarius
For Sagittarians, Jupiter is their ruler, so it is always important to take note of where Jupiter is manifesting. Jupiter always has something to say for you, so in this case in the Eighth house.
This is the are where you deeply bond with others and explore in depth all that you own together or your psychological traits in combination. It points to any shared resources you may have, any inheritances due, or where sharing accounts and money may disturb you. It could be where you wish to keep things discreet and at least not divulge much information to others if there are any issues around money to sort out.
This area is ruled traditionally by Mars and in modern-day astrology by Pluto so whether it is personal or collective, it probes deep into sexual liaisons and what they mean for you in their transformative effect. Be aware of any obsessional tendencies here and keep shining a light in the darkness to uncover and reflect on the meaning. This elevates those sometimes painful issues to allow them to become more like life lessons even if that means finally doing the accounts. It can also draw your attention to psychic matters where your intuition is fine-tuned or your interest in hidden knowledge comes to the fore.
3:9 Capricorn
For Capricorn, this falls in your Ninth house and Jupiter is the natural ruler of this House, so if feels more aligned.
So you may become more interested in reevaluating your beliefs, and you start thinking: on what foundation do they rest and do they need to be reviewed or will they serve you for the coming years? Your attention might turn to long distance travel where you can reconnect with your spiritual side or where you feel the need to go on retreat or a pilgrimage of some sort. The flavour of your thinking might take a more religious or philosophical tinge and you look to other countries to provide that for you. You make decisions more with these ideas in mind so your choices may change and less inclined to be motivated by merely material success.
You may turn to reading books on philosophy or travel and that these give you immense satisfaction. You become more open to higher learning and this can benefit all your other activities through taking a broader perspective.
3:10 Aquarius
For Aquarians this energy falls in your Tenth house which rules your career and reputation. It does not necessarily mean it is time to change but just to reevaluate your standing and status at work, perhaps gaining extra qualifications and seniority where you raise your level of education. That might just boost your self-esteem and therefore enhance what you do in subtle ways where there is no outward change.
There may be a dispute at work that you are called to make decisions and where your counsel is sought after and taken into consideration. Jupiter inflates so it could mean that people notice you much more and your fame increases. It may involve your father in some way whether he is more prominent that you are could be the issue. That can be just the influence of the father upon your growth and development, or it could mean the institutions, the government or the system in some way has an impact on what you are able to achieve.
3:11 Pisces
For Pisceans, Jupiter falls in your Eleventh House.
This can increase luck and sudden prosperity but that depends on other factors in the chart. Yet your hopes and wishes could certainly come to the foreground. It can focus attention more on the number of digital connections you have on social media and whether those are good for you or not, or represent that overkill where you need to cut back. There is also a feeling that your interest in humanitarian groups to which you belong will become satisfying and the need to have discussions about socio-political topics can increase especially where new ideas are needed to bring about reform of the status quo. To be active in these circles appears to you to be going in the right direction.
You may find that your friends become more important and relationships with them are valued more especially where you align in your point of view about the world and are thus able to talk more freely to them than to anyone else in your life including your partner and family. You sense of bonhomie may increase and you become open to a variety of different types of people and find that you judge less and understand more. But be aware of imposing ideas rigidly as every Utopian dream can fast turn into a dystopian nightmare- there is a need for subtlety in ideas, nuance and balance. Jupiter points to being more grounded in this respect.
3:12 Aries
Jupiter has just rounded up a year in Aries where they pioneered their more adventurous ideas and it will not be there again for another 12 years. For Aries natives, this past year put the focus on you and your presentation to the world, your physical body- that’s now the turn of Taurus natives. But you have gone through an overhaul. Jupiter presides now over your 12th house where it is much quieter, more reflective, possibly stimulating more subconscious issues that you do not find easy to spot and may seem more mysterious.
Hopefully it does not mean you begin to feel more isolated but it can mean that, just cut off from others in some way and needing that solitude. You mind turns to more creative and spiritual matters, to your dreams and psychic intuitions and these may feel nebulous and hard to grasp so again be reminded that Jupiter is telling us to ground more frequently so if you do have strange dreams, write them down or find some way to channel the creative surge. That may mean feeling in touch with spirit guides as Jupiter acts like a guide. It is certainly okay to indulge in fantasies from time to time as they offer alternative perspectives on the material world, but just to keep training the fertility of mind into practical outcomes where that is feasible.
