The Parting Glance: Neptune reenters Pisces

1: The Parting Glance

Neptune dipped back into Pisces yesterday and it has been non-stop rain in the UK. This will be the last time it stays in Pisces for the next 165 years; so what does that mean? This is the endpoint of the entire zodiac cycle -the exit door where people vanish into other realms. It’s a liminal space acting much like eclipse energy where things come and go.

Neptune in Pisces revisits many vulnerable points we have already experienced- a bit like a relapse, but one which we can at least see the final end of.  It could feel like a rehash of  events in early March -from March 4th to March 30th specifically when it was also at that 29°. March in the UK has a spate of sunny weather but several world conflicts remained unresolved. There was severe flooding in the USA, Argentina and Italy. That was the time of the Spring Equinox between the Eclipses – the Lunar eclipse on March 14th and the Solar eclipse on March  29th.  That was a powerful and evocative time of changes and growing awareness that more change was to come.  Earthquakes both literal and political could play the reprise part of the symphony here.

And now we have 3I-Atlas, this unknown celestial body whizzing through our very own solar system close to Mars the Sun at the end of October, and eventually Jupiter at its exaltation point of 15° Cancer by March 16th, 2026. All very curious indeed.

Overview

Neptune is actually at home in its own sign of Pisces which is the last of all the zodiac signs. Though the traditional ruler of Pisces is Jupiter, it is similarly associated with religion and excess- and that also includes sacrifices made to cultish behaviour and the power of the overblown media to control minds and ignite emotional contagion through propaganda. And that last decan ruled by Mars can bring on a few silent losses. It is a time for mopping up of the remaining tasks to be done, or wounds to be healed.

Neptune first entered in Pisces May to August in 2011, then fully in 2012. It leaves on January 26th -2026, so it will have been there a good 15 years when it finally exits with a sigh of relief. It ushered in the mind-mash era where boundaries became porous and reality shifted places with unreality- all designed to confuse us, but also to sensitise us more to the presence of the spirit world (telepathy, intuition, clairaudience, clairsentience) and shake off the encrusted scales of materialism.

Think about all that has happened since 2011:  the advent of social media, manipulation of information, the prevalence of judgmental cancel culture, but also the rise of spirituality and astrology proliferating via the internet, weird theories of high strangeness, loss of faith in institutions, money and the financial system, monumental debts, the deep state, man-made viruses, lockdowns, deep fake videos, cloud storage, rules and regulations that made no sense unless for control of human freedom of both speech and movement. Also, there were ‘sudden and unexpected’ deaths, tsunamis and leaks of radioactivity, pervasive nihilism, cynicism, confusion of identity linked to mental health crises, government corruption, scandals, malignant narcissism, psychopathy, the fascination with doom porn, the rise of ‘hallucinations’ and AI-giarism, but also disillusionment with the whole concept of celebrities and Hollywood glamour. They have faded in influence.

There have been collective egregore spirits that turned toxic and began to control individual decisions. These past 15 years have been a mixed bag, of both good and bad, real and unreal, often the one posing as the other. But it felt like being in a hall of mirrors. A lot depends on how your steer your subjective reality. A calm, centred self usually helps to avoid being sucked in while we take what we need and leave the rest.

It was also the era of binge watching of TV, especially ‘Game of Thrones’ that fantasy other world in which dragons became so real to viewers. Films like ‘Interstellar’ (2014) , ‘Arrival’ (2016) and ‘Sense8’ (2015-18) pushed the boundaries of what is possible. The need to escape is very Neptunian, but few questioned: escape from what into what? It can just be attention hopping. That lack of direction mentally deepened the tendency towards mindless addiction- usually your head down and finger scrolling on a smart phone. Technology is welcome, but not at the cost of losing our more human values. As Iain McGilchrist says we are very good at making machines, but have not yet made a flower, a tree, an animal or a waterfall.

Neptune in PiscesSaturn has been in Pisces since 2023 and that has helped to bring the cold harder edge of reality. It has steadied some of the Neptunian mish-mash and given it form and discipline again, so we can see at least the problems that having no boundaries creates. Now we can see where to go forward when it returns with Neptune to Aries with that grand conjunction waiting to happen on February 20th, 2026.

But from October 22nd to January 26th Neptune’s does this parting glance to its own sign. This last episode is reminiscent of the story of Orpheus and Eurydice. We have been travelling through hell- the underworld is a symbol of the unconscious mind- and something has to be lost and left behind. But the more we regret what’s gone, the less able we are to move on. Looking back can cause things to wither and die. It is double edged as we need to learn from past mistakes while at the same time keeping our eye on the goal of a better world and that requires intense vigilant focus as good and bad in equal measure can be created by casual everyday thoughts. Mercury too can have this ability to travel in the underworld and he is there  now in Scorpio unearthing stories that will go big when he arrives in Sagittarius on 30th October.

But just to recap the story: Orpheus’ wife Eurydice was bitten by a snake and died, so a distraught Orpheus travelled into the underworld to Hades to bring her back alive. He sang and played his lyre to Hades and Persephone the King and Queen and persuaded them to deliver her back to life.  He was granted his wish, but there were conditions to follow. He was ordered ‘never to look back’ on his way out of hell, as if he did, he would forfeit his wife forever and lose her.

He passed through the Stygian realm, passed many dead souls and ghosts of the unknown on the way (very much like that last degree of Pisces). But Orpheus was unable to maintain his focus forward. He turned back and looked. Eurydice was gone. This is something we all may need to be wary of during these last months of 2025. There is an Asteroid Orpheus and what I find interesting is that it will reach the Galactic Centre by the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in February 2026.

Changes in 2025 have been profound and even disturbing, but they’re not over yet.  I found a message on Instagram that said ‘May the last months of 2025 be the best plot twist your life wasn’t expecting’. That can go either way.

Neptune stays at the anaretic degree of 29° for  almost 3 months- even when it moves forward on December 11th, it does so only by minutes at a time staying at this degree until January 26th.

2: Scorpio Season: the Coming of the Dark

This dipping back into Pisces occurred just after a new Moon in Libra emphasising relationship dynamics, plus the sun has now moved in to Scorpio. The season in the northern hemisphere prepares for the darkness to descend once more, for SamHain (Sow-in)– otherwise labelled ‘Halloween’ – which is October 31st. This is the time along with the ‘Day of the Dead’ in Mexico where the spirit realm triumphs over the material world. Spirits lurk close to the 3D looking for ways to interact, or to be psychic parasites. It is a significant marker in the annual calendar and the mid-point between the Equinox and Solstice. The way to take charge of any negativity would be to have a picnic in a cemetery or join the famous zombie walk in Los Angeles. But it is worth keeping an eye on the psychic energies around you and take steps to protect yourself.

We have had a huge number of scandals in 2025, some related to sexual exploitation and abuse of minors, but some are still kept secret. But the X-ray eyes of Scorpio will see right through any pretence and investigations can uncover the truth. This could reinvigorate all the scandals to do with drugs, abuse of power, government corruption, all the cover ups of wrongdoing in the past few years. It can at times seem like a full on descent into a world of callous profanity and criminality, lacking in spiritual meaning. We see it happening but sometimes feel powerless to act, though actions are necessary.

EntitledEspecially now we are in Scorpio season, expect to see the dirt unearthed on certain people in power who have not been held accountable before. Mercury and Mars have been conjunct in Scorpio this week sharpening up thoughts and words and bringing a more intense feeling to conversations that otherwise would be ordinary. This duo formed a trine to the North Node in Pisces 19th/20th of October however and that offered a way out. Scorpio is the inspector who misses nothing and loves to probe deep with a scalpel to reveal the secrets lurking underneath.

Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio, has moved forward in Aquarius on October 13th which is why we are seeing all this action of clearing out the debris which is like a badly needed cultural detox. There is intense pressure is on certain people to resign. But in the case of Prince Andrew a new book by Andrew Lownie ‘Entitled’ published in August 2025 has tipped the balance and focussed attention on abuses of the ‘spoilt’ prince. It has all the compelling stuff woven together: power, class, sex, money and bad behaviour. Even the other Royals themselves are seeking to scrutinise what value he brings and to strip away those privileges to the core. Andrew has already had a North-South Node reversal aspect at 26° of Pisces from mid-April to mid May. Also, the Saturn- Neptune conjunction happens the day after his Solar Return in 2026. It conjuncts his Sun and Chiron but his reputation is already damaged. There’s a sense in which this is happening to all of us as a collective as we review past behaviours, and notice mistakes in ourselves and others and wish to make a clean break.

The Sun squares Pluto on 24th October intensifying this feeling that events have reached crisis point and social norms are breaking but also it can break the spell in which we were held.

Then there is a trine from Mars/Mercury to Saturn in Pisces and Jupiter in Cancer. This creates a beautiful grand water trine which  enhances emotions, visions and dreams. I think of waterfalls that just flow and keep on flowing regardless – nature’s power is incredible that way. That’s on October 24th-25th. The feelings will be heavy and thrust us into deep intuitions and higher and more sensitive emotional intelligence. Yet it could be very constructive too with Saturn in the mix.  We may have to trust that the best will emerge from the chaos. We’ll have to wait and see with a watchful eye what eventually emerges as the influence of this trine lasts well into  December.

All of it remains to be seen, but if we observe well and not take things too seriously, especially the news, which seeks to alarm and sensationalise, we can navigate the world in a way that links the inner and outer worlds to best effect.

So the best we can do is have a great Scorpio season and Happy Halloween.
